The Mutapa project.
In March 2007, the SIFE MSU team facilitated a fundraising strategies workshop for six participants in the Mutapa project, at Midlands State University. The workshop covered the following issues as business success skills; strategic thinking, strategic planning, action planning, networking, change management. In May 2007, the team held a business ethics education workshop for seven participants from the project. Within the first week of April 2007 a financial literacy workshop was undertaken for ten participants of the same project. Over the month of June 2007,a refresher workshop was organised for each participant.
Creations Entertainment
To transform a group of five youths whose business was to burn and sell music as well video records; to a leading music and entertainment production company. In January 2007, the team identified a group of five youths based in the Gweru high densitysuburb of Senga, whose business was burning music and video records for sale. The team conducted the first workshop which was aimed at convincing them that burning music and video records is unethical; and they could make more money by becoming a music and entertainment recording company. The team partnered with Baseline Entertainment engineers to conduct a one week music and entertainment recording and production workshop that focused on the following areas; visual animation, graphic designing, sound engineering and photo editing, Basic P.A System operations and script writing. The team also conducted a marketing strategies workshop for the participants, as well as business ethics education workshops within the month of February 2007. In March 2007, the team facilitated a business success skills workshop for the participants. In May 2007, the team conducted a refresher workshop for each of the workshops that had been conducted
Generation Next
To achieve national awareness about free enterprise through the creation of a critical mass of youths adequately and correctly educated about the concept of free market economy
In January 2007, the SIFE team identified five High and two primary schools, where students would be identified to receive education about free enterprise. These schools are Guinea Fowl, Midlands Christian College, Fletcher, Regina Mundi, Mkoba 1, Senga primary and Stanely primary. Between February and March 2007, the team conducted a total of seven workshops to educate students from these schools about the free market economy , basic entrepreneurial skills as well as business ethics education. The team initiated free enterprise clubs at each school and donated grants of Z$1million for each club so that it can demonstrate knowledge about entrepreneurship and ethical business conduct. The team also conducted a march across and around the Gweru central Business District with the theme “Free enterprise "
